Andrew Vaughn
Andrew G. Vaughn, 52, of Weston passed away at his home due to complications from cancer on Jan. 24, 2020.
Andrew was born Feb. 15, 1967, in Antigo, Wisconsin, to David and Violet Vaughn. He was a longtime employee at Liberty Mutual and was beloved and known by everyone he worked with. He loved spending his free time in the water fishing for trout. He will be forever known as the “grill master,” with his specialty being chicken wings. He loved keeping up with the Packers and Brewers even though he would get so frustrated, he’d turn off the TV. He was his son’s biggest fan and attended all his baseball and football games. He will be remembered as the most caring and selfless man with a heart of gold. He will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
Andrew is survived by his son Joseph (Taylore) Rose and grandson Brooks; mother Violet Vaughn; sisters Leah (Mark) Zastrow and Cindy (Chris) Weber; brother David (Cindy) Vaughn; nephews Matthew and Luke Zastrow, Johnny Noble and David Vaughn; and his fellow co-parent(s) Jean (Fred) Blado. He is preceded in death by his father David Vaughn.
A celebration of Andrew’s life will be held Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home’s Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston.
Dorothy Buhse
Dorothy Elaine Buhse, 100, Wausau, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Dorothy was born July 12, 1919, in Milwaukee to the late John and Meta (Marquardt) Dawson. She married Jack Buhse on June 6, 1942, in Pine City, Minnesota. The couple was blessed with one son, Jeffery. Dorothy worked for Muskegon Piston Ring for many years while caring for her family. After 51 loving years together, Jack died on April 5, 1994.
Dorothy was a very caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren were able to have a very close relationship since they lived just behind their grandparents. She was a very good cook and baker, making many wonderful meals and treats over the years. Dorothy was proudly a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church since it was founded over 55 years ago when the services were held at the Weston Municipal Center. Her son, Jeffery, served as the first alter boy for Mount Olive Lutheran Church. In retirement, she faithfully helped with church bazaars, volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Shop and crocheted countless afghans to donate. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed reading, going up north to the cottage in Harshaw and cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. Her most favorite activities were watching “Wheel of Fortune” and still playing cards with her church friends.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dana Buhse; grandchildren, Heather (Josh) Hahn, Heidi (Lance) Uttecht and Kyle (Chris) Buhse; great-grandchildren, Dawson and Ava Hahn, Kolbie and Mylah Uttecht; step-great-grandchildren, Melissa and Destiny; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, Jeffery; and brothers, Harvey, Arthur and Harold.
The funeral service for Dorothy will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6250 Alderson St., Weston. The Rev. Ray Connor will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas. Marion Kaetterhenry
Marion Kaetterhenry, 89, passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2020, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
She was born March 5, 1930, in Wausau, daughter of the late Paul and Lillie Hintz. She married the late Vernon Kaetterhenry on March 9, 1948.
Marion was a homemaker. She loved raising her family and having a helping hand with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being in the kitchen baking and cooking, taking vacations and playing sheepshead with the Wednesday morning card club.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Jill (Bruce) Graveen; four sons, Dale, Mark, Kim (Michelle) and Ned; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Peterson; sons, Paul, Scott and Terry; and sister, Adeline Klokow.
The funeral service for Marion will be at noon on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at Helke Funeral Home. Rev. Erik Olson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home on Thursday. Entombment will be at Restlawn Mausoleum, town of Texas. Donald Janigo
Donald J. Janigo, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, surrounded by his family in his beautiful rustic home in Hatley.
Don was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, on June 9, 1936, the son of the late John and Ann Janigo.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eileen; sons, Jonathon of Madison and Don Jr. (Kristy) of Maple Grove, Minnesota; sister, Louise Dunlap of Ashland; nephew Bruce Dunlap of Michigan; cousins and special in-laws in Ashland and Mosinee.
After many years of painting in his hometown, Don attended Northland College, and later taught biology in Winter for 1 year, and 32 years in Wittenberg. Don enjoyed teaching students and continued meeting them after retirement.
Before many health setbacks, Don continued with a struggle to recover. An intense strong will helped him in efforts such as gardening, (especially tulips) and finding a method of maneuvers to enjoy nature’s beauty and began a collection of the bounties to later turn into some wonderful creations. They included walking sticks, grapevine wreaths, birdhouses, cards and many more. It was important to him to give them to others.
While recovering, the reminiscing focus was memories of his passions, including basketball, golfing, ice fishing and smelting on the Chequamegon Bay. Also memorable was traveling with family when his sons were young and later following retirement he enjoyed cruises and had an enjoyable journey to Alaska to visit his relatives that settled there years before.
Our gratitude is centered around the staff at Pride TLC in Weston and his many countless doctors, nurses and health care professionals who cared for and treated him over the years. Also, a special thank you to the Hatley ambulance and Interim Hospice for their care and treatment.
At Don’s request, no service will be held, and burial will take place in the spring at Mount Hope Cemetery in Ashland, his beloved hometown.
