The Rhinelander-Oneida County airport will add an extra Delta flight to and from Minneapolis during the busiest months for summer tourism in the northwoods.

That will bring the number of Saturday flights taking off from the airport during July and August to four, according to a WJFW report.

The changes come after the airport saw a roughly 13 percent increase in passengers since 2018, the report states.

Structural changes are also underway at the airport thanks to an FAA grant that allows for remodeling of the facility’s secure area. Planned improvements include bathrooms and vending machines in a more spacious area, with more than double the seating.

That construction is due to be completed in March.
