WESTON– The Everest boys basketball team knocked off Wausau West 79-65 on Friday night to improve to 10-3 overall and 6-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

The win keeps Everest in a tie for first place in conference play with Marshfield.

West falls to 2-13 overall and 0-8 in the Valley.

The Evergreens will take on Antigo in a non-conference tilt on February 4 before a date with Marshfield on February 7.

Girls Basketball 

Wausau West 56, Everest 52

WESTON– Kiley Deaton scored 16 points and Anna Cunningham also poured in 16 points as the Warriors knocked off Everest in a Wisconsin Valley Conference basketball clash.

Cunningham recorded a double-double as she also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Deaton was 8-16 from the floor with three rebounds and a steal.

The Win evens the Warriors’ overall record at 9-9.  West holds a conference record of 6-3.

Meanwhile, Everest falls to 2-6 in the Valley and 3-15 overall.

Newman 60, Wausau East 44

WAUSAU– Newman notched its fifteenth win of the season by knocking off East 60-44.

East falls to 4-12 overall this season and will resume play on February 4 against Medford.

Newman faces Rib Lake on February 7.
