WESTON — D.C. Everest Junior High School will host its annual History Day Fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 5 at the school, 1000 Machmueller St.
This interactive History Day Fair will feature exhibits, plays, documentaries, websites and historical papers created by students after months of research. Community groups and others will judge the submissions and award special prizes. The History Day Award Ceremony will take place at 2 p.m.
The top five projects in each of the nine categories will qualify to compete in the regional competition held at UW-Stevens Point on March 12. The top three projects in each of the categories will then qualify to compete at the University of Wisconsin-Madison on April 18 in a bid to attend the national competition held at the University of Maryland in June 2020.
Doors are open to the public.
The event also provides students with the opportunity to “give voice” to people not necessarily found in traditional history texts. The theme of National History Day 2020 is Breaking Barriers in History.
