City officials are proposing candidate roundtables in advance of the April election, an idea floated during Tuesday’s meeting of the Economic Development Committee in Wausau.

Mayor Robert Milke said the initiative is being put forward “because there is so much misinformation out there.”

The public discussions would be open to the public, allowing candidates to answer questions and provide information related to the city’s economic strategy, or how different development programs work in the city, officials said.

Sessions are being planned for 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20 and at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 3. A third session is possible.

The meeting location is yet to be determined.
