One day after Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Derrick Ndadi offered to pay adoption fees at Kansas City shelters in celebration of the team’s Superbowl win, Coors Light made an even bigger impact.

The beer maker will cover up to $100 in dog adoption fees for up to 1,000 dogs at shelters around the country including the Humane Society of Marathon County, in all spending about $100,000 to give shelter dogs a forever home.

The offer is good through Feb. 21. People adopting the animals must be at least 21 years old.

Lisa Leiterman, director of the HSMC, said the shelter currently has 11 dogs up for adoption. The average adoption fee is $175 plus tax.
