WAUSAU — Throughout February, Wausau’s River District businesses will have hearts available for purchase that ask, “Why do you love Wausau?” Your answer is your opportunity to share something you love about your community.

The Heart of Wausau project is intended to create a valentine to Wausau from the heart of Wausau. Anyone can visit any participating River District business, donate $1 to buy a heart, and write something you love about the community. Store owners will then display the hearts in their windows. All proceeds go toward improvements Kickbusch Plaza, which is behind the Marathon County Public Library.

“We are excited to bring this campaign back for its third year,” said Blake Opal-Wahoske, executive director of Wausau River District. “It’s a great way to engage with our community and showcase all the wonderful assets in our community.”
