A high-speed chase, probation violations, battery and drunken driving in the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department log for the week ending Feb. 9.

A 30-year-old Wausau man was arrested Monday afternoon after leading deputies on a high-speed chase on Highway 51 near Irma just after 3 p.m. The driver was charged with felony fleeing an officer. An officer specially trained to evaluate drug-influenced drivers indicated the man was under the influence of drugs, a citation for driving while impaired is pending until blood tests are returned.

A deputy arrested a 30-year-old Gleason man Tuesday afternoon following a traffic stop. The deputy learned the driver was operating on a revoked driver’s license. A check also showed the man had two misdemeanor bonds in Lincoln County Court. He was arrested on those two counts of bail jumping.

Deputies assisted the Wisconsin State Patrol on Wednesday afternoon after two men fled a traffic stop south of Tomahawk. Deputies responded to the area of Highway 51 at Highway S where the trooper had located the men after they fled. The two men, a 29-year-old Tomahawk man and a 22-year-old Merrill man were both wanted for violating the terms of their probation. Another passenger, a 22-year-old Merrill woman was also arrested for violating the terms of her probation. The Wisconsin State Patrol was handling additional charges.

A 33-year-old Rhinelander woman was arrested Wednesday evening on a charge of battery in the town of Skanawan.

Two women were arrested following a traffic stop Thursday evening in the town of Pine River. A deputy stopped the vehicle on Highway 51 near Highway 64 for having expired plates. The K9 Vali from the Tomahawk Police Department responded to the scene and indicated to the odor of illegal drugs in the vehicle. During a search, bath salts and a pipe commonly used to smoke methamphetamine were found. A 19-year-old Weston woman was arrested for possessing illegal hallucinogens and for violating the terms of her probation. A passenger, a 32-year-old Wausau woman was also arrested for violating the terms of her probation.

A 33-year-old Merrill man was cited Saturday evening for operating an ATV while intoxicated. The Rec. Deputy stopped the man on Lone Pine Road in the town of Merrill after he observed him driving his ATV westbound in the eastbound lane of traffic.

Sunday’s snowfall led to over 20 traffic related incidents during a four-hour time frame. Many of the incidents involved vehicles leaving the roadway and rolling over. At least two semi- trucks jackknifed. Highway 51 was closed for two hours on the north side of Merrill causing traffic to be routed through the city of Merrill. No injuries were reported.
