Snow-covered, slippery roads and a subzero temperatures are greeting residents this morning throughout Wausau and Marathon County.

A wind chill advisory is in effect for Marathon County until 10 a.m. Thursday, as temperatures plummeted overnight. Expect wind chills in the -20 below range.

Hazardous travel will continue early this morning as untreated roads, bridges, parking lots and sidewalks will be snow or ice covered. Additional light snow accumulations are possible along with some blowing and drifting snow.

Motorists should anticipate hazardous travel conditions early this morning.

The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin within 30 minutes. Anyone planning outdoor activities should dress in layers and cover exposed skin to avoid the risk of frostbite.
