State officials say 38 Marshfield workers will lose their jobs at IDEXX Distribution, Inc., along with 13 workers in Waukesha.

IDEXX Distribution, Inc., provided formal notice of a workforce reduction to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The company’s Marshfield location is at 510 St. Joseph Ave.

The workforce reduction is expected to begin on May 1, officials said.

Founded in 2002, the company’s line of business includes the manufacturing of medical, surgical, ophthalmic, and veterinary instruments and apparatus.

IDEXX purchased Marshfield Clinic’s veterinary labs last year and took over operations on Nov. 18. At the time, Marshfield Clinic Health Systems Director of Communications John Gardner was quoted in the Hub City Times as saying that all 90 employees would have the opportunity to continue in their positions.

The Marshfield Clinic vet labs were established in 1991.

The Dept. of Workforce Development and its regional partners will offer rapid response services to the company and the affected workers.
