WESTON — Wausau Metro Strong will host its third annual Run to Remember 5K Walk/Run at 9 a.m. March 14.

Previous Run to Remember events have raised more than $35,000, a portion of which was used to fund the construction of a memorial in Weston to honor the victims of a March 2017 shooting. Runners in this year’s event will pass the memorial.

“Wausau Metro Strong is proud to continue the Run to Remember in 2020 as we pay tribute to Dianne Look, Karen Barclay, Sara Quirt Sann and Jason Weiland,” said race organizer Cassandra Ambrosius. “We will never forget the destruction and pain caused on March 22, 2017. The Run to Remember is also a thank you to the Wausau Metro community for the strength and support demonstrated to all those impacted by this tragedy.”

The course for the Run to Remember begins and ends near D.C. Everest Junior High and winds through the streets of Weston. Participants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt, complimentary drinks and snacks. Awards will also be presented to participants in a variety of categories. Chip timing and race results will be available.
