A 35-year-old woman accused of providing a Rib Mountain man a fatal dose of drugs is behind bars Thursday and facing charges of first degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs.
Jackie L. Loiselle, who is listed as homeless in court documents but previously held a downtown Wausau address, was charged Feb. 18 in Marathon County Circuit Court in connection with the October death. She also faces charges of delivering heroin and bail jumping.
Police were called Oct. 10 a Rib Mountain residence for a medical emergency after a man arrived home to find his son unconscious and not breathing. The victim was cold to the touch and had a needle in his hand when he was found, police said.
The alleged victim had battled addiction for a number of years. Autopsy results showed the man’s death was an acute toxicological fatality that specifically involved heroin, according to court documents.
Through the course of the investigation, police discovered conversations between the victim and Loiselle, who later admitted purchasing heroin from another man before selling the drug to the victim at a Wausau gas station.
During an initial appearance Feb. 18, Circuit Judge Jill Falstad ordered Loiselle held on a $75,000 cash bond.
Court records show Loiselle has three additional open cases in Marathon County, two of which were filed before the alleged victim’s death. She was out on bond when she allegedly delivered the drugs to the victim.
A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 26.
