WAUSAU — Members of the Horace Mann Middle School seventh- and eighth-grade choirs will participate in an October concert at Carnegie Hall dedicated to the memory of 9/11 victims and survivors.

The students will join a middle school mass choir in the Oct. 11 performance, a first-time opportunity for these young music lovers.

Horace Mann music instructor Dan Larson said he couldn’t be more pleased with the progress of the choirs this year.

“The energy, enthusiasm and positive attitudes have made this year one of the best ever in the Horace Mann vocal music department,” Larson said.

The National Memorial Concert will also feature a high school mass choir and two speakers who are 9/11 survivors.

A visit to Ground Zero, as well as a tour of the 9/11 museum is an integral part of the performance experience.

Fundraising efforts coming

Students and parents will be organizing several fundraising events to help curb the expenses of this trip for each participant. Donations also can be sent to Horace Mann Middle School, c/o Daniel Larson, 3101 N. 13th St., Wausau, WI 54403, with checks made out to HMMS.
