WAUSAU– The Wausau West boys hockey team jumped out to a three-goal lead in their WIAA regional final contest against D.C. Everest on Thursday and cruised to a 6-1 victory.

The #2 seeded Warriors will square off against #3 Chippewa Falls on February 25 in Wausau.

Falls advanced to the sectional with a 3-1 victory over Eau Claire North.

The Warriors got two goals from Marc Sippel.

Carson Marquardt, Brady Cleveland, Jacob Cebula and Cole Hannes also joined the scoring party for West.

Everest’s lone goal came from Grant Oertel in the second period.

Adam Prokop had 18 saves for the Warriors; Ethan Hurdt had 33 saves for Everest.

Wausau West 66, Stevens Point 54

WAUSAU– The Warriors ended the Wisconsin Valley Conference season on a high note as they knocked off SPASH.

A tight game in the first half gave way to a dominant performance by West in the second half.

West outscored SPASH 40-27 in the second frame.

Leah Earnest led the Panthers with 28 points.
