Wausau East Principal Dr. Brad Peck will retire at the conclusion of the current school year, ending his more than 30-year tenure at the school.

Peck, who spent 24 1/2 of his 30 1/2 years at Wausau East as the school’s principal, announced his retirement in a letter to parents on Friday.

“There is no possible way that I can adequately describe just how much I have enjoyed working with your sons and daughters – and how I will treasure all of the wonderful moments I have shared with them at Lumberjack High,” Peck wrote. “It has been an amazing career.”

Peck earned a Ph.D in English and educational administration from the University of Wisconsin in 2002.

Peck is one of two principals soon to retire in the Wausau School District. John Muir Middle School Principal Larry Mancl will also retire at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

A search for replacements for both positions is already underway, school district officials said.
