A 30-year-old Minocqua man was arrested Sunday after fleeing from a traffic stop, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy stopped the vehicle at about 11:30 p.m. on Hwy. 51 near Crass Road for a speeding violation. Police say the driver initially stopped for the deputy, but fled southbound on Hwy. 51 when the deputy approached the suspect’s vehicle.

The pursuit ended safely near Lincoln Drive after a tire deflation device was used.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested on a felony charge of fleeing and was cited for both speeding and driving without a valid license.

Official charges are expected to be filed Monday in Lincoln County Circuit Court.
