WAUSAU – Wausau’s Live It Up Wausau program, a partnership between the city and local employers to provide down payment assistance home loans to employees, has now closed on its 60th home loan, the city announced today.

The program has provided over $750,000 worth of home loans to local employees to buy homes in the city of Wausau and has been acknowledged as a model tool for communities in addressing workforce attraction and home affordability, the city said in a news release. The program was seeded with city and Community Development Authority funding in 2016, as well as a donation by the Judd S. Alexander Foundation.

Live It Up also recently welcomed Associated Bank as its 53rd Live It Up business partner. The program is supported by businesses, both large and small, including many of the Wausau region’s top employers, including Greenheck, Linetec, Wausau Window and Wall, IncredibleBank, CoVantage, Ruder Ware and Church Mutual Insurance Co.

“Welcoming homeowners to the city is one of the best ways we can help attract a talented workforce at the local level. Thank you to our business partners for their support and for helping to make homeownership more attainable for their employees,” said Christian Schock, director, in the release.
