Police have issued an arrest warrant for a 28-year-old Wausau man accused of failing to maintain a court-ordered sex offender registration.

WANTED: Brandon J. Tonnon, 28, of Wausau. Arrest warrant issued March 4. Charges filed Feb. 29 include failure to maintain sex offender registration.

Brandon J. Tonnon previously served a year in prison failing to maintain his sex offender registration in two cases filed against him, both of which were resolved in 2017. He was released from prison in October and is currently on active supervision. The felony charge was filed against Tonnon on Feb. 28, with a body-only warrant authorized on March 4.

A body only warrant in Wisconsin is a warrant issued by a judge that requires any law enforcement agency finding the suspect to arrest that person and hold him until he can be brought to court in the county the warrant was issued.

Court records show Tonnon is also facing a misdemeanor theft charge filed March 4 in Marathon County Circuit Court.

Tonnon was previously convicted of escape charges in 2015 and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, court records show.
