The Wausau School District will cancel all before- and after-school activities from March 15 to March 29, according to a letter sent to parents.

School officials are also preparing for virtual learning in case the district is forced to close schools. All staff and students are being asked to take their Chromebooks or iPads home each school day beginning March 13.

The decision was made after recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control. The Marathon County Health Department will offer future guidance on potential school closures.

So far, the Marathon County Health Department has not issued a directive for school closures, but is recommending groups cancel or postpone events with 250 or more attendees.
