Effective immediately, all schools in the Wausau School District will be closed beginning tomorrow, Monday, March 16, according to an email sent to parents late Sunday.
This closure is effective through Sunday, April 5, 2020.
The action is being taken in response to the increase in cases of COVID-19 in the state, the email states.
The district will implement Virtual Learning beginning tomorrow. Virtual Learning will occur on the following days during this school closure:
Virtual learning is scheduled for Monday through Friday this week, then resuming on Monday, March 30 following spring break at Wausau schools.
D.C. Everest schools will also close beginning Monday, according to the district’s official website, though the days will be handled differently.
“In consultation with the Marathon County Health Department and our medical director, D.C. Everest School District will be closed beginning Monday, March 16, 2020,” the district’s post reads.
“During the past week our teaching staff has been working with students o prepare for off-site continuous learning,” Everest officials explained on their website. “The days cancelled for this week will be counted like snow days. The week of March 23 through 27 is our scheduled Spring Break; therefore off-site continuous learning will begin March 30.”
Charter is offering free Spectrum broadband and wifi access for 60 days to households with K-12 students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription, school officials said. The offer begins Monday, March 16 and installation will be waived for new student households. To enroll, parents should call 844-488-8395.
