NEWS RELEASE — Like everyone else, we at the Marathon County Historical Society are talking about the health of our staff members, volunteers and guests, and what we can do to protect the health of our whole community in the face of COVID-19.
Therefore, we will close to the public at noon today, Tuesday, March 17, 2020, and will remain closed until it is deemed safe to reopen. Our previously scheduled programs and tours also are suspended for the next several weeks.
We will be contacting our regular volunteers and asking them to remain at home, and inviting staff members to work from home when possible, and to stay home if they don’t feel well.
We will maintain a skeleton crew onsite. This would be a great time to pursue your genealogy or local history interests. Please call 715-842-5750 if our researchers can help with such questions. We can scan and email photos and documents in our possession, or direct you to other helpful sources.
Our website www.marathoncountyhistory.org already contains a wealth of interesting stories from local history, and we plan to use some of this “down time” to upload much more. We also are active on social media: Find us on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
