The Holiday Inn Convention Center in Stevens Point will lay off 143 employees between now and Wednesday, according to a mass layoff notice from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.
The closure is a result of the “unforeseeable, dramatic downturn in business and occupancy caused by the coronavirus natural disaster,” according to a letter submitted by the company.
All 143 affected employees have been notified of their separation.
DWD and its regional partner, North Central Wisconsin Workforce Development Board, will offer rapid response services to the company and the affected workers
The Program’s local Rapid Response Teams help companies and worker representatives develop and implement a practical transition plan based on the size of the layoff event.
