Henry “Hank” McEvoy

Henry “Hank” McEvoy, 74, of Wausau passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020, at the Stoughton Hospital.

He was born on May 5, 1945, in Evanston, Illinois, to the late Richard and Ruth (Hansen) McEvoy. On July 21, 1967, he married Janet Buchanan in Elgin, Illinois. Hank earned a master’s degree in teaching and taught at Elgin High School and Kimball Junior High School for 23 years prior to moving to the Wausau area. He worked at John Muir Middle School for 17 years as a seventh-grade science teacher. He also coached football and basketball during his time there, a job he truly enjoyed. Following his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and boating with his family at their summer home in Phelps.  Hank loved being a dad to his five children. He also enjoyed woodworking and construction, even building four of their family homes. He had a wonderful singing voice and enjoyed time spent singing at church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janet McEvoy of Wausau; his five children, Jeff McEvoy of South Carolina, Jason McEvoy of Wausau, Gretchen (Eric) Ulferts of Minnesota, Jennie (Lance) Kelly, and Hannah (Sam) Reyes, all of Wausau; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Rich (Kathy) McEvoy of Wausau; and one sister, Pat (Dick) Worden of California.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Brainard Funeral Home- Wausau Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leona Wilde

Leona Wilde, 92, of Wausau died at home on Friday, March 27, 2020, with her daughter, Judy, by her side.

Leona was born on May 28, 1927, to the late Herbert and Erna (Borchardt) Schuster. She married Hugo Wilde on June 2, 1943. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2006. She was employed with the Winebrenner Shoe Co. until her retirement.

Leona is survived by her two daughters, Judy Springer of Wausau, and Carol (Chet) Brietzke of Merrill; one grandson and three great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Leona is preceded in death by her brothers Herbert Schuster Jr. and Lawrence Schuster, as well as by two grandsons.

A private graveside service will be held at Friedenshain Cemetery with Rev. Dan Sire of St. John Lutheran Church officiating.
