Because of lower traffic volumes, Marathon County Highway Department will perform concrete joint repairs on the middle, southbound lane of Highway 51 between Stewart Avenue and Rib Mountain Drive, beginning April 20.

Work is anticipated to take up to three weeks. During this time, motorists can expect 24/7 lane closures, and a reduced speed limit of 55 mph. Message boards will alert motorists in advance of the work zone.

Lane closures are necessary for crews to safely conduct the repairs. Motorists should drive with caution through work zones and be alert for workers and slow-moving vehicles. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.

As a reminder, April 20 – 24 is National Work Zone Awareness Week. For more information about work zone safety, visit: https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/safety/education/workzone.
