Police have identified the two men discovered Saturday in a Lincoln County crash as 23-year-old Andrew Griffin, Jr., and 18-year-old Elisha Benjamine Griffin, of Medford.

The men, who were brothers, have been missing since April 11.

A passerby alerted police to the crash on Saturday, April 18, after spotting the vehicle on Old 8 Road north of Hwy. 8 in the town of Wilson, which is northwest of Tomahawk.

Oneida County units were the first to respond at the scene, but the investigation shifted to Lincoln County after a Wisconsin State Trooper found that the crash actually occurred on Hwy. 8 near CTH CC in the town of Wilson.

An initial investigation shows the SUV was traveling east on Hwy. 8 when before leaving the roadway and rolling over. The crash is believed to have happened late last Saturday evening, April 11, police said.

The vehicle had left the roadway and was not visible to passing motorists; further significant snowfall last Sunday also concealed the vehicle.

Both men had been reported missing to the Medford Police Department. Police believe the crash happened late the night of April 11.

At this time, the investigation shows this is a traffic fatality. No other contributing factors are believed to be involved. Agencies assisting at the scene included Wisconsin State Patrol, Oneida County Sheriff, Nokomis Fire Department, Little Rice Fire Department, Oneida County Med 4, and the Lincoln County Coroner’s Office.

The deaths are the second and third on Lincoln County roadways this year.
