Crews from multiple fire departments and the Wisconsin Department of Resources are battling a large wildfire Monday in the Marathon County town of Knowlton.

The blaze was reported at about 1:20 p.m. Monday along Sandy Creek Road near Sandy Bay Lane stretching into the woods. The witness who called in the blaze reported seeing a man walking into the woods while the blaze was spreading.

The blaze is one of five wildfires burning Monday throughout Wisconsin and comes on the heels of a 243-acre wildfire in Juneau County that broke out on Saturday.

About one acre of land was involved in the fire as of 1:55 p.m. Monday, with fire danger levels remaining high, according to the DNR.

There’s no word yet on injuries. This is a developing story.
