Four people were displaced Sunday after a Wausau-area home was destroyed by fire.

The blaze was called in at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday at 4300 CTH U, between N. 36th Avenue and N. 44th Avenue in the village of Maine.

When crews arrived the discovered the structure engulfed in flames.

Minutes after their arrival, crews from Maine called for mutual aid from SAFER, Marathon, Hamburg and the town of Texas. Wisconsin Public Service workers were summoned twice to the scene.

Within the hour, crews requested assistance from the American Red Cross and Salvation Army and said four members of the household were displaced.

Firefighters remained at the scene for more than two hours.

One person inside the home escaped without injury.

There’s no word yet on what caused the blaze of if anyone was injured.
