Pavement repairs continue on Highway 51 in Marathon County

Marathon County Highway Department will move into the second phase of concrete joint repairs on Highway 51 in Marathon County starting May 4. Details for phase two are as follows:

• The right two lanes of Highway 51 southbound will be closed between Rib River Bridge and Highway NN
• The ramp from Sherman Street on to Highway 51 southbound will be closed. Traffic will be routed along Highway R (Hummingbird Road).

During this time, motorists can expect 24/7 lane closures, and a reduced speed limit of 55 mph. Message boards will alert motorists in advance of the work zone. Work is anticipated to be completed by May 15.

Lane closures are necessary for crews to safely conduct the repairs. Motorists should drive with caution through work zones and be alert for workers and slow-moving vehicles. The schedule is subject to change based on weather conditions.
