The body of a 30-year-old man who was reported missing Saturday was discovered just south of his last known location, officials said Tuesday.
A 911 caller reported finding the body of Perry Miller, of the Granton area, just before midnight on Monday, May 4, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Department.
The discovery was made about 1/4 mile south of where Miller’s boat capsized.
Police received a call just after 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, that two men were ejected from a boat that capsized while the men were fishing. One of the men pulled on a life jacket and safely made it to shore, but Miller, who did not have a life preserver, went under the water and did not submerge.
The men were fishing on the Black River and were trying to cross to fish on the other side when the boat began to take on water, police said.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department offered thanks to the Wisconsin DNR, Wisconsin State Patrol, Wisconsin National Guard, Wisconsin Air National Guard, Marathon County Dive Team, Clark County Corner Richard Schleifer, Neillsville Area Fire Department, Bruce’s Legacy for assistance in searching, and both Pizza Hut and Subway for helping feed volunteers during the search.
