MERRILL – WJMT radio will air a three-hour special called Hometown Concert for the Cause at noon May 8 as a fundraiser for local food pantries.

The broadcast will feature singers, duets and groups from the Merrill area, along with songs from the city band, middle school and high school students

The line-up features a variety of prerecorded music, including country, polka, traditional, pop and standards.  The show will also feature selections by some of Merrill’s most popular “rock ‘n roll” bands from the 60s and 70s.

During the concert, the station will accept donations during live remote broadcasts from Park City Credit Union, Dave’s County Market and the WJMT radio studios.

Proceeds will be distributed to Trinity Church Food Pantry, Community Food Pantry of Merrill, Food for Kids and New Testament Church Food Pantry.

Hometown Concert for the Cause will be repeated at 7 p.m. May 9 on 96.3 FM, 730 AM and bluejay963.com.
