A grass fire, UTV crashes, possession of THC, bail jumping and a probation violation in the Lincoln County Sheriff’s log May 17, 2020.

A grass fire was reported Friday afternoon near Kaphaem Road and Highway 51 in the town of Bradley. Additionally, on Saturday, DNR and Tomahawk firefighters responded to the camping area at Otter Lake Campground after a fire was found smoldering in the woods.

Two Rhinelander men were injured in a UTV crash Saturday afternoon near Highway 17 and Bowman Road in the town of Harrison. The 34-year-old driver reported he went off a trail and down a hill where his UTV collided with trees. The driver was ejected from the machine while his passenger, a 21-year-old Rhinelander man, remained inside of the vehicle. Neither were wearing helmets or seatbelts.

A 62-year-old Tomahawk man was injured after an ATV crash Saturday evening on Bridge Road in the town of Tomahawk. Paramedics treated the man on scene and then transferred him to the Spirit 2 medical helicopter, which flew the man to the trauma center at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Highway 86 at Bridge Road was closed to allow the helicopter to land.

Four people were arrested and one cited following a traffic stop on Highway K near Larson Lake Road in the town of Birch early Monday morning. During the traffic stop K9 Poncho alerted to the odor of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.  A 24-year-old Pewaukee man was arrested for possession of THC 2nd offense, felony bail jumping, obstructing/resisting, and a probation violation. A 23-year-old Lac Du Flambeau female was arrested for possession of THC, bail jumping, probation violation and an active warrant.  A 22-year-old Muskego man was arrested for possession of THC 2nd offense and felony bail jumping. A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for possession of THC.  The driver, a 22-year-old Delafield female was cited for operating after suspension and operating without proof of insurance. 

Three people reported striking deer last week.  A bear was struck and killed on Wednesday morning on Highway 51 near Highway K in the town of Merrill.
