A 38-year-old woman is accused of sexually assaulting a child she met while a teacher at a Rhinelander middle school.

Police say no sexual contact happened on district property, but the Rhinelander woman is now facing multiple charges after home surveillance audio captured sexual activity between the woman and the 16-year-old boy.

Stephanie Pudlowski faces charges of sexual assault of a child placed in substitute care, sexual intercourse with a child age 16 or older and causing mental harm to a child. She resigned from her position as an 8th grade teacher with the Rhinelander School District on Monday.

Police say the recordings were obtained by Pudlowski’s husband, who filed for divorce on Monday.

Police estimate the sexual activity has been going on for months, sometimes several times per week.

Pudlowski appeared Monday, May 18 in Oneida County Circuit Court and was released on a $5,000 signature bond. She is due in court June 15 for a hearing.
