Fire crews from Wausau were called Thursday to a report of a train car on fire on the city’s east side.

According to emergency scanner traffic, a passerby reported seeing heavy smoke from the train car, which was attached to additional cars on the tracks. Crews were called at 8:17 a.m. to the tracks just east of Curling Way, south of Townline Road in Wausau.

Crews remained on scene as of 9:30 a.m. It is unclear how the blaze began. Wausau Pilot & Review did not receive any reports of injuries.
