Parks within the city of Wausau no longer have caution tape or fencing and are now open, according to a Marathon County Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department Facebook post.

County playgrounds remain closed, though there is no caution tape surrounding them.

The notice was also placed on the department’s website Thursday, just days after city crews began using snow fencing to surround playground equipment. Parks Director Jamie Polley on Monday said fencing efforts began before the state Supreme Court overturned Gov. Tony Evers’ Safer at Home Order.

“You may notice that the City playgrounds do not have fencing or caution tape around them,” the department’s Facebook post reads. “Playgrounds are not disinfected so use is at your own risk.”

A decision on whether to open one or all of the city’s three municipal pools will be made June 1.
