The Whitetail Crossing Convenience Store in Wittenberg closed Saturday after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, Wausau Pilot & Review has learned.

The convenience store, at N2714 Hwy. 45 in Wittenberg, posted signs on the doors and gas pumps urging anyone who has been at the store over the past two weeks to be tested for COVID-19. Gas pumps remain open for pay-at-the-pump service.

Ho-Chunk Gaming Wittenberg posted a notice on its Facebook page sharing the closure. The casino has been closed throughout the COVID-19 shutdown and has not yet reopened.

Fletcher Collins, Executive Manager at Ho-Chunk Gaming Wittenberg, commented on the post, saying the convenience store management will ultimately address the issue. The store will remain closed until further notice.

Cleaning procedures are underway to ensure the safety of employees and future customers when the store reopens.

A Ho-Chunk Nation news story posted March 23 quotes Ho-Chunk Executive Administrative Officer Michael Sallaway as saying that the convenience store will resume normal operations as soon as the cleaning and inspection has been performed.
