Marcus Cedar Creek Cinema in Rothschild will reopen within the next six weeks, company officials confirmed.

The theater, at 10101 Market St., Rothschild, has been closed since March 17 due to coronavirus concerns.

A plan is underway to reduce theater capacity and roll out additional no-contact options for ticket and concession purchases, according to Marcus Theatres President and CEO Greg Marcus.

Plans include ensuring two empty seats between every set of two seats sold, which amounts to about six feet on each side of moviegoers.

Although a precise opening date has not yet been set, late June or early July is the current target, Marcus said.

Several major Hollywood blockbuster films have delayed their release dates in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, which shuttered thousands of theaters nationwide. Some big films have been cancelled while some, like Tom Hanks’ “Greyhound,” have changed course for streaming services instead.

“Tenet,” Disney’s live action “Mulan,” Warner Brothers’ “Wonder Woman 1984,” and Pixar’s “Soul” are still set for summer release.

Marcus operates 23 theater locations in Wisconsin alone.
