An 82-year-old Schofield woman is dead and two other people are injured following a crash Tuesday in Wittenberg, Shawano County officials said.
Police were called at about 6 p.m. Tuesday to a head-on collision on Hwy. Q involving two vehicles.
According to a news release, a preliminary investigation shows a 48-year-old Wittenberg man driving eastbound crossed the center line and struck a westbound car driven by an 83-year-old Weston woman.
Both drivers were injured.
The victim who died was a passenger in the Weston woman’s vehicle. Police say she was airlifted to Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she died of her injuries.
There’s no indication alcohol was a factor in the crash, police said.
The Weston woman remains hospitalized in stable condition. The man’s condition was not specified.
No names have been released.
