Businesses based in the city of Wausau that suffered financial losses as a result of circumstances stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic can now apply for Wausau Cares program grants and loans to help recover and reopen for business.

At the same time, MCDEVCO’s small business disaster loan program is available to assist small businesses with fewer than 10 employees to recover and reopen.

Wausau Cares

The city’s new Wausau Cares is providing $336,804 in funding to city-based businesses to assist with payroll, marketing, rent/lease payments, utility bills, inventory, and health and safety improvements to businesses.

Wausau Cares grants and loans will be awarded by MCDEVCO on a first-come basis until the funds are depleted. Businesses will be able to apply for grant or loan assistance. MCDEVCO funding

MCDEVCO’s funding to Marathon County-based businesses is to assist with items such as inventory to reopen, rehiring employees, start-up funds/working capital, disinfection and protective equipment for staff and clients.
