Health officials confirm an employee at Crystal Finishing in Mosinee has tested positive for coronavirus.

Employees were notified Thursday afternoon.

The employee, who worked at the Mosinee plan on the Extral Press, has not been at work since second shift on Friday, May 29.

Crystal Finishing officials say they immediately put their COVID-19 response team plan into action and sent home second shift workers for the night on Thursday to clean and disinfect the area that the team member could have had contact with.

Business resumed as normal starting with third shift workers. All team members who had close contact – 6 feet or less for more than 10 minutes – have been notified and will work closely with the Marathon County Health Department for contact tracing.

Crystal Finishing officials say the team member followed protocol and called the doctor’s office for testing when he didn’t feel well. More than 100 team members followed the same protocol with a negative result, officals said.

As of Friday morning, Marathon County was reporting 55 cases of COVID-19, though it is unclear if the Crystal Finishing worker is included in that total. Numbers are updated at 2 p.m. daily.
