A 58-year-0ld man is hospitalized after his girlfriend allegedly shot him during a prolonged domestic dispute, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Department.

Police say 58-year-old Christine Stammeler called 911 at 12:45 a.m. Monday, June 22 to report shooting her boyfriend.

Crews responded to 6215 Big Doe Road, Lake Tomahawk, and discovered Delano R. Blunt, Jr., shot in the right shoulder. Blunt was transported to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment.

Stammeler was taken to the Oneida County Jail. Charges have not yet been filed.

The events leading up to the shooting are unclear. A search of court records show Blunt, formerly of Wausau, has several open criminal cases including a disorderly conduct-domestic abuse charge. Blunt also has a court-ordered firearm restriction until 2023 due to a domestic abuse-temporary restraining order filed in Marathon County Circuit Court. A prior firearms restriction was ordered in 2016 in Winnebago County, part of a harassment restraining order filed against Blunt.

Police say the incident remains under investigation with assistance form the Oneida County District Attorney, Woodruff Police Department and Oneida County EMS.
