Battery, disorderly conduct, drunken driving, sexual assault and burglary in Lincoln County Sheriff Department’s log for June 22, 2020.

A 19-year-old Gleason man was arrested Monday afternoon on felony and misdemeanor charges following a disturbance in the town of Russell. Deputies learned the man hit the victim over the head with a plate and bottle and then armed himself with a knife. The suspect was arrested on charges of battery, disorderly conduct and a felony charge of substantial battery.

Deputies worked with the Lincoln County Highway Department and the Town of Russell Fire Department as they closed Highway C in the town of Schley for seven and a half hours Tuesday evening after a semi left the road and rolled over. The driver, a 58-year-old Deerbrooke man, told deputies a white pickup swerved into his lane and forced him to take evasive action. A small diesel spill was also contained by the fire department and checked by the DNR. The semi driver reported minor injuries, the second vehicle was not located.

A town of Merrill resident was the victim of a scam last week. The man received a call from someone claiming to be from an anti-virus software company who had concerns about the man’s computer. After the victim allowed the man to have access to his computer he told him he found issues and needed the victim to purchase $900 worth of gift cards in order to fix it. After providing the access codes to the cards the man realized he was a victim and soon learned the thief gained access to his bank account and removed another $300. Deputies continue to investigate.

A 56-year-old Minnesota man was arrested Thursday afternoon on a criminal traffic charge. The man showed signs of impairment and after tests the driver, from Shakopee, Minnesota, was arrested for a third offense of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

A 58-year-old Tomahawk man was arrested Thursday afternoon on three counts of third degree sexual assault.

A Junction City man called 911 just after 5 p.m. Friday evening to report his pickup was on fire. When a trooper and deputy arrived the fire was mostly out. Traffic was flowing again normally by 7 p.m.

An Irma man reported that he was the victim of a scam involving the website Craigslist Saturday afternoon. The man made contact with a person selling a Jet Ski and trailer. The pair agreed on a price but the caller insisted the victim use Best Buy gift cards to pay for the Jet Ski and that it would be delivered on Saturday. The Jet Ski never showed up. The scammer would only communicate via email and likely will be impossible to trace. The man lost $3,400.

A 27-year-old Merrill man was arrested Saturday evening in the town of Merrill. Deputies went to the home and took the man into custody after the Wisconsin Department of Corrections advised he had violated the rules of his electronic monitor.

A 39-year-old Merrill man was arrested Sunday evening on charges of burglary, operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent and a probation violation after deputies investigated a burglary in the town of Pine River. The victim reported returning home from a weekend trip and finding a vehicle missing. The vehicle was found parked nearby with the 39-year-old sleeping in it.

The number of deer crashes is lower this week with only eight being reported.
