Wausau area veterans in need of a meal during the COVID-19 virus outbreak who either lacked the resources to obtain food or were physically unable to travel were provided free comfort meals.

Volunteers, about 24 who rotated duty, delivered the donated meals – 1,006 – for two during the last 11 weeks.

Funding – $15,000 – was provided by Acacia Philanthropy Foundation, Bunkers Restaurant, Wausau American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post 10 and others.

Veteran Thom Passow and his family provided the majority of coordination for the program.  Meals were prepared by Bunkers Restaurant at Tribute Golf Course.
