A 44-year-old Mosinee man is accused of supplying a near-fatal dose of heroin to a woman who overdosed and nearly died at a Wausau hotel in May.
Aaron Templeton is facing nine criminal charges in connection with an investigation that started with a May 3 call to a Stewart Avenue hotel from a man who said his girlfriend overdosed.
Responding police and emergency crews discovered a 21-year-old woman unresponsive in a bathtub. The woman, who had a pulse but was not breathing when EMTs arrived, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and admitted into intensive care.
A search of the room turned up used syringes, heroin, methamphetamine, fentanyl test wipes and an array of drug paraphernalia, all of which was seized into evidence.
The investigation, which includes interviews and phone records, eventually led police to suspect Templeton had sold the drugs to the woman. Police also suspect Templeton is connected to a May 10 overdose in Rothschild involving heroin and fentanyl. In the Rothschild overdose, a 25-year-old man overdosed and nearly died, but was revived.
Templeton faces two counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety, delivery of methamphetamine, delivery of heroin, possession of narcotics with intent to deliver, possession of psilocin with intent to deliver, possession of LSD with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed June 19 in Marathon County Circuit Court.
Templeton, who was on probation stemming from previous drug convictions at the time of his arrest, is being held on a $75,000 cash bond.
A preliminary hearing is set for June 29.
