WAUSAU – Peoples State Bank has donated $30,000 to support seven nonprofit agencies throughout Wisconsin as they work to meet the needs of the community as a result of COVID-19.
More than 75 percent of Peoples State Bank’s employees donated an hour or more of their pay to contribute $4,690 of the total, the bank announced this week. In addition to the employee funds, Peoples State Bank matched $5,310. Those funds, along with a $20,000 grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s COVID-19 Relief Program, reached $30,000 of total support. The funds will be split among seven agencies in central, northern and southeastern Wisconsin, where Peoples has bank locations.
“Peoples’ employees have generous hearts,” said Scott Cattanach, Peoples’ president and CEO, in a news release. “Each day our staff works to serve others with banking services and it’s heart-warming to see them also reach out to give an hour of pay—and in some cases more—to help community members impacted by COVID-19.”
In central Wisconsin, the COVID-19 Community Response Fund, a partnership of the Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and the United Way of Marathon County will receive $13,000, which will provide childcare, food security, basic needs, and rent and utility assistance for people impacted by COVID-19.
In northern Wisconsin, the Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing, Feed Our Rural Kids, and Generations Lakeland Retirement Foundation will receive a combined $9,000 to use serving people in the Rhinelander, Eagle River and Minocqua areas.
And in southeastern Wisconsin, a combined $8,000 will be used by the West Allis Community Improvement Foundation, La Casa De Esperanza and La Causa, Inc. for a variety of needs to help those impacted by COVID-19.
