A 39-year-old Wausau man is accused of threatening to kill his wife, then shooting at her while six children were inside the home.
Police were called May 27 to a home on Colonial Road for a report of a loud argument with shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered an area in the front yard that appeared to show the impact of a bullet, along with a live round on the front steps and a spent round nearby. Also located near the spent round was the base plate to a Glock magazine, according to the police report.
Now, Yang Y. Xiong is facing multiple criminal charges. On June 25, prosecutors charged Xiong with first degree recklessly endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, false imprisonment and disorderly conduct.
The suspect’s wife told police the two had an argument that escalated when Xiong threatened to get a gun and kill his wife, then kill himself. Police say when Xiong shot at the woman she ran across the road to a neighbor’s house.
Xiong allegedly fled the scene and remained at large for weeks. No one was injured.
During an initial appearance June 25, Marathon County Circuit Judge Michael Moran set a $10,000 cash bond for Xiong. His next court appearance is July 6.
