A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for portions of Marathon County in central Wisconsin as a line of strong storms moves through the area.
Just before 5 p.m. severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles south of Merrill to Wausau to near Mosinee to 12 miles east of Marshfield, according to the National Weather Service.
The storms are moving east at 30 mph.
Expect 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail. Damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible.
The warning is in effect until 6 p.m.
