Sconni’s Alehouse and Eatery in Schofield is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, the company announced Monday.
“Today we found out that a part-time employee whose last shift was over a week ago has tested positive for Covid-19,” a Facebook post reads. “We have contacted the Marathon County Health Department and are waiting to see how to proceed into the future. Until we hear their recommendations, we have decided to close temporarily and will be awaiting more direction from them.”
Based on the current COVID-19 numbers in the area, Sconni’s had already been discussing transitioning to outdoor dining and curbside pickup only before learning of the positive case.
“In addition to having our facility professionally cleaned, we will move forward with our plan of reopening with outdoor dining and curbside only when it is safe to do so,” company officials said on Facebook.
Marathon County is reporting 225 positive cases of coronavirus as of July 6, up from 210 one day earlier. One person has died and 120 have recovered.
Sconni’s, 1239 Schofield Ave., will continue to post updates on the company’s Facebook page.
“As we find out more information, we will keep everyone informed of the health department’s recommendations and when we will be able to reopen safely.”
