(PRESS RELEASE) WAUSAU — TDS Telecom will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16 to celebrate the opening of a new retail location in Wausau. The storefront, located at 227040 Rib Mountain Drive, gives customers the chance to try TDS TV+, the company’s new TV offering, explore service packages and register for service in person before TDS Fiber launches locally later this summer.

“We want residents have the opportunity to experience the technology for themselves,” said Erin Danz, Director of Marketing at TDS. “We’ve created a safe space where people can visit to ask questions, register and see TDS TV+ in action.”

Due to the pandemic, only one customer may be in the store at a time. Social distancing is required and mask wearing is encouraged.

A year ago, TDS announced it was building a fiber-optic network in Wausau, Kronenwetter, Rothschild, Schofield and Weston. When the build is complete, TDS will deliver up to 1 Gigabit internet along with TDS TV+, the company’s new cloud-based TV product, and phone service to area residents. Installations are expected to begin in Weston and Kronenwetter in late summer, with rollouts continuing through 2022.

The ribbon cutting event will be recorded and will be available to view on the Chamber’s YouTube channel.

The new store’s business hours are Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 855-259-8577 or visit TDSFiber.com.
