The Marathon County Jail is in lockdown after an inmate tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

The lockdown will continue until 8 a.m. July 24, officials said.

For immediate release: July 21, 2020

On July 21, 2020, the Marathon County Jail was notified that a person in custody had tested positive for COVID-19. The inmate has been incarcerated during the infectious period. The inmate is asymptomatic, in isolation, and being medically monitored.

The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office is working in conjunction with the Marathon County Health Department to investigate and follow up with those who may have been a contact to this inmate.

The Marathon County Jail will be in lockdown until Friday, July 24, 2020 at 8 am in order to complete the investigation.

No further information will be released at this time.
