Rothschild will soon be the home of a new Starbucks, according to representatives from Lokre Companies.

The new, free-standing Starbucks, a partnership between Lokre and SS Stehr Construction Management, will be built on the corner of Bus. Hwy. 51 and Kort Street in Rothschild.

Victor Anderson, representing Lokre, said the new Starbucks location will be a welcome addition to the greater Wausau area and will support a sense of community in the neighborhood.

“The coffee house will offer a gathering place to meet friends and family while enjoying quality service, an inviting atmosphere and an exceptional beverage,” Anderson said.

The Rothschild location will be the fourth coffee location for Starbucks in the metro area. Other locations are on Rib Mountain Drive, 17th Avenue and inside Target.

The Starbucks will be built on the land and parking area to the east of the existing retail center, adjacent to the intersection, Anderson said. Future plans include razing a portion of the current retail center and moving the Check into Cash store next to the Polito’s Pizza restaurant.

Both businesses will remain open during construction.

The store design will be contemporary and based on Starbucks’ latest designs.

Construction is slated to begin next month and conclude in early spring, with a grand opening tentatively set for April.
